Alpinestars Shoot - MSFT Productions Going Global

May 10 & 11th

Over the time I was with Red Bull at Crankworx Rotorua 2018 I managed to meet the legend 'Shane King' the owner of Crown Kiwi Enterprises, distributer of Alpinestars and 100% & (1996 MX World Champion - LEGEND!) - This is where the ball started rolling, we got talking and then before I knew it was asked to shoot for the Alpinestars 2019 gear drop. What I didn't realise until the day before the shoot was that it wasn't for Alpinestars NZ, but it was for the Alpinestars Global 2019 Gear Launch in September - the froth level is through the roof.

Thursday May 10th rolled around - it was on. Midday I got my gear packed and checked over, then hit the road to Taupo where I met the boys (Shane, Shanes sons Curtis & Rian King and Pro MX rider Rhys Carter) at the beautiful Hilton Hotel where we were staying. That night we had good catchups and discussed the game plan for the shoot over some beers and fantastic Medium Rehurr scotch fillet steak, which I throughly recommend getting if you find yourself staying at the Hilton in Taupo. So we were filled to the brim, fuelled and set for the big day.

6.30am rolled around, coffees were on, clouds were looming, rain was off and on, the boys were set. We stopped for bacon and eggs in Taupo, then we were on our way to the forest located in-between Taupo and Tokoroa. We got there with all the team and the shoot was on by 10am, the bikes (Husqvarna 300, Yamaha 250 and Kawasaki 450) were unloaded and the film started rolling. The film gear I used to shoot the day was; a Canon EOS 70D with a 67ml lens, GoPro Hero 6 - 5 - 4's and a Session, GoPro karma grips and GoPro Karma drone. So I was well equipped and by the end of the day I was stoked with all the shots I got, from all perspectives (POV's from chest, helmet and front mud guard, air/birds eye view - drone, following close ups with the karma grip and pan shots/closeups with the Canon). The day was full on and I got the shots I wanted to get, the list was ticked, great riding was done, dirt was ripped, mud bogs were shredded, bikes & gear were dirty and the shoot was wrapped up by 3pm. The bikes were then loaded up and we jumped in our cars/vans/trucks and headed towards home, the boys were satisfied.

I can't fathom how sik the new 2019 Alpinstars gear is - so when you get the opportunity to get your hands on some I recommend going and checking it out on the crown kiwi website, the boys are frothing and so will you.

Be on the look out over September this year on social media where Alpinestars will release the video globally.

Yehaaa, super stoked to be apart of it and cheers boys for the great few days, amped for the future shoots!

Its on - when it is on!
